If you’re a gun owner, we’re sure that you’re aware of all the basic rules of firearm safety. At least, we hope. It never hurts to have a reminder though, especially when dealing with these powerful weapons.
Regardless of how experienced you are with firearms, a safe shooting experience should always be a primary concern. If you’re a novice and want to begin using firearms, read and remember these rules. If you’re a seasoned veteran, this is your friendly reminder. Feel free to save and share these rules with anyone who may need them.
- Treat all firearms as though they are loaded – you wouldn’t point a loaded gun in an unsafe direction or look down the barrel. Don’t do it with an unloaded gun either. Always treat firearms in the same, cautious manner whether loaded or unloaded.
- Point the muzzle in a safe direction at all times – point when you’re ready to fire at you’re desired target. Don’t ever point the muzzle in unsafe directions just to do it.
- Keep your finger outside of the trigger guard – until you are ready to fire, hold the firearm in a way which keeps your finger off the trigger.
- Know your target – be sure of your target and what is behind it. When target shooting, it is important to consider any potential ricochet that could occur.
Follow these 4 rules, and you can have a safe, enjoyable and rewarding shooting experience! Firearms are deadly and powerful weapons, but it’s important to remember that you are in control. They are also a lot of fun and sometimes even necessary to own and operate.
Follow the cardinal rules of firearm safety closely and never have a bad shooting experience. If you or someone you know is a beginner, Magnum Target is here to provide the perfect targets for you and to ensure a safe experience.
